10 Signs Your Loved One Is Still With You
4 min read
Losing someone you love really does change you… and not always in the ways people talk about. It’s often the quieter moments that stay with you the most.
It’s usually in those spaces, when everything’s settled a bit, that your mind starts to wander back to them… and you might find yourself wondering if they’re still around you in some way, or if it’s just you missing them. And in truth, it can feel like a bit of both at times.
Over the years, both personally and through the people I’ve worked with, I’ve seen that connection doesn’t just suddenly disappear. But it doesn’t always come through in big, obvious ways either. Most of the time, it’s subtle… easy to question, easy to brush off if you’re not really paying attention.
These are some of the ways it can show up. Not rules, just things that tend to come up again and again.

1. Repeating numbers.
You might start noticing the same numbers appearing… 111, 222, 444… often at times when you’re already thinking about them, or needing a bit of reassurance. It’s not always about the number itself, more how and when it shows up.

2. Feathers in unexpected places.
People often speak about finding feathers where they wouldn’t normally expect to. Indoors, or somewhere they’ve walked many times before. It’s usually not dramatic, just a small moment that feels… noticed.

3. Animals behaving differently.
Sometimes it’s a butterfly that lingers longer than you’d expect, or a bird that seems to come closer than usual. Even pets can react to things we don’t fully see. You can’t always explain it, but you tend to feel when there’s something a bit different about it.

4. Sudden thoughts or memories.
There are moments where someone comes into your mind very strongly, without really knowing why. And it feels different to just remembering… there’s a presence to it, almost like it’s come in rather than come from you.

Feeling Connected to These Signs?
You may be receiving messages meant specifically for you.
5. Music at just the right time.
You might hear a song that connects to them, right when you need it, or at a moment that feels a bit too well-timed. Music has a way of reaching you emotionally, so it’s often one of the easier ways for that connection to come through.

6. Dreams that feel real.
Some dreams stay with you in a different way. They feel calm, clear… and when you wake up, it doesn’t feel like your usual dream. It feels more like you’ve actually spent time with them.

7. Electrical disturbances.
Things like lights flickering or devices acting oddly do come up. And yes, there can be practical reasons for that too… but when it happens around certain moments or emotions, it can make you stop and think.

8. A sudden sense of peace.
This is something I hear a lot. You might be upset, or deep in thought about them, and then there’s just a shift… a calm that comes in, even if it’s only for a moment. It can feel like you’re being supported somehow.

9. Objects being moved or found.
Small things, usually. Something appearing where you’ve already looked, or an object connected to them showing up at the right time. It’s often less about the object, and more about how it feels when you notice it.

10. A quiet knowing.
And sometimes… there isn’t really a “sign” you can point to. It’s just a feeling. A sense that they’re there, or that you’re not as alone as you thought. It doesn’t always need explaining, even though the mind will try to.

In my experience, these things are very personal. Not everyone notices them, and not everyone is meant to in the same way. It can also take time… especially when you’re still processing loss.
And it’s important not to go searching for signs in everything, because that can pull you out of your natural awareness. It tends to work the other way round… when you’re a bit more settled, a bit more open, things come in quietly.
But if something does happen, and it brings you even a small sense of comfort… that matters. Whether you fully understand it or not.
And if at any point you feel like you want a bit more clarity around what you’re sensing, or just some reassurance, that’s where a reading can help. Not to force anything, just to gently open that connection and make sense of what’s already there.
It’s never about replacing your own awareness… just supporting it.
